Understand user want, it mean you need to keep close with your customer, communication and interaction make them become part of the team, listen their feedback, just remember everything you build with your team is an assumption market was so dynamic with various character and persona you need to validate your idea as soon as possible, “Their no perfect product” that why MVP is a part of process in life cycle development.
“User” this terminology always refers to customer, sometime product guy need to be clear and remember user is represent of two type of person, the first one is customer / end user and the second one is user for the internal company (employee). I always told to everyone this quotes “Employee come first, then customer” — Richard Branson. What its mean, for sure customer who generate the revenue for the company, but can you imagine if you didn’t treat better your employee the soul of the company will disappear and they’re working just for money. Bring the spirit to employee is the best investment for the company.
Understand your stakeholder expected, this is the tricky part if you want to become product guy, sometime stakeholder expected product should be release as soon as possible and they expect product will generate revenue for the company at the same moment when product released. Sometime process is not become their concern, that why negotiation skill and effectiveness communication is a mandatory skill for product guy.
Understand your team faced

Events in scrum help us to understand what scrum team faced is important to know each other because we are teammates, with same goal, whatever your role or position. Maybe i’m the lucky one of product guy is because my experiences start from software engineer, that why I understand how their feeling, how difficult they are to communicated their problem my empathy build from there.
Understand yourself
As a product guy, your are the person who responsible with goal of the product, you need to declare what you really want with the product. Explain with the simple words to your team, to your stakeholder what do you want to achived. You are the product guy, your are owned the product don’t let people drive you with their assumption and theories, listen is important but following their instruction is just because their position higher than you, is not make sense.
